Outdoor Stream

The Outdoor Stream opened in September 2014 as a number of opportunties that our young people had identified that they wanted to be involved in were offered to CHAT.

Partnerships were formed with the National Parks' Mosaic Project, Sustrans the sustainable transport charity, Greening Wingrove Project and Greening Wingrove CIC

Working with Mosaic, Sustrans and Bike for Health, in November 2014 a group of our older members (The Levellerz) planned, fundraised and carried out the Coast to Coast Cycle Route. They worked with youth members from Scotswood Area Strategy and both groups of young people collected sponsorship to buy equipment for their respective youth projects. They succeeded in raising £700. One of our young people made a video showing their journey which can be viewed on this link:  www.youtube.com/watch

As a result of the older groups endeavors our younger members expressed an interest in doing cycle rides. We have therefore begun developing a programme of rides which will ultimately lead to a second group completing the Coast to Coast. Cycle rides so far have been to Newburn Country Park and Bill Quay Farm.

Tying in with our Reclaim the Lanes work, our young people were invited to work with Community Digital Artist Karen Underhill as part of Newcastle City Council's Artist in Residence Programme. Our young people wrote and recorded a rap 'Respect the Streets, and worked with Karen on developing a series of images using light to put into a music video which is available to view on our channel on Youtube: www.youtube.com/watch

Since December 2016 CHAT has been running an Outreach Project based i the Bike Garden within Nunsmoor Park. Sessions are held between 5pm and 8pm and are open to young people aged 11+.
